Why Not?

In the first movie of the “Rocky” series, he battles against the champ, Apollo Creed, in a boxing match. Rocky’s boxer name is “the Italian Stallion.” “Italian” because he was somewhat Italian but “stallion,” has a greater meaning. A stallion is a male horse that has not been castrated. This is like rocky in a way. When horses are castrated, it allows the horse to be calmer and more behaved. Rocky makes a living on fights and makes people pay money for his boss which is like a horse being out of control and before being castrated. However, when he learned that he had a big fight against creed, he got his life together and started training, like a well behaved, gentle castrated stallion. The stallion also represents courage. Rocky had courage ever since he accepted the major fight. He knew he was going to lose but he accepted anyways. He wanted to prove a point to the people. This about sums it up:

“I was thinkin’, it really don’t matter if I lose this fight. It really don’t matter if this guy opens my head, either. ‘Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody’s ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I’m still standin’, I’m gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren’t just another bum from the neighborhood.”
– Rocky Balboa

People now a days don’t bother to do anything because they claim to know the outcome of it already. As if they know exactly what is going to happen to them. I say we stop asking “Why?” And start asking “Why not?” People don’t understand that their life can easily slip right through their finger tips and not see it coming. TAKE RISKS PEOPLE. Show the world what you got. It’s just a matter of time before you regret not doing something great with your life and it was all a waste. So I challenge this to you guys. Start asking yourselves, “why not?”

The Truth About Reality

This song can be interpreted in many different ways. As so, there is still one line from this song that stands out:

“Ain’t it fun, living in the real world?”
It is in the chorus so therefore is repeated quite a few times. Haley Williams, the singer, is saying this in a sarcastic tone because the world is not all fun and games anymore. It’s the truth about reality.

Some people have it all made, since the start. They never had to struggle. Everything was taken care of for them. Not an ounce of stress on their shoulders and doing what they please. This may seem like its the “ideal” way of living but it doesn’t teach any lessons. It doesn’t allow room for mistakes. It just doesn’t mean anything at all. They spend their life cooped up in a false reality. They are living a life of selfishness and doesn’t give anyone a second thought. Those type pf people need to know that there are 8 billion other people in this world too and that those people aren’t just there to make their life easier. When they finally experience the real world, they see that the world doesn’t revolve around them anymore. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Essentially, everyone has to grow up and make their own decisions. We each have to be our own individual and not entirely depend on others. You can try and avoid life, but soon it catches up to you. To be independent, you must take risks, make mistakes and learn. No one will be with you every step of the way and no one will be there to fight your battles for you all the time. This is a reminder that THIS is reality and it’s time to wake up from your dream and take responsibility for your actions, your problems, and YOUR life. This is the real world and the world will not wait for you.
